Itching to Stitch from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We getting into the relaxation groove here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch. Sadie spent her yesterday morning snoozing on her window hammock.

Later she decided to chase the sunshine across the back of the couch.

Having missed a couple of days of slow-stitching when we were driving south, I as in the mood for some slow-stitching. I spent some extra time on it and filled what remained in my hoop.

Smitty kept watch over my shoulder, making certain my needle didn't stray outside the lines.

When I moved my hoop to encompass the last ...

Merry Christmas Eve! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're expecting high winds today. The weatherman is predicting downed trees and power outages. All is calm right now, but we're bracing. I have some baking to do, and so I need the power to stay on. Erik called yesterday with concerns about the weather. After talking it over, we agreed to stay on the side of safety and postponed our family dinner until tomorrow, on Christmas Day.

Yesterday started with the usual slow stitching. This is Tiny Treasure #35. It has a chain fill, a stem fill, stem stitch, and fly stitch.

Sunny and Dry from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The warmer, drier weather we've been promised has finally arrived. We have a pretty view of the mountains this morning.

We were able to get out and pull some weeds yesterday, although the day started out pretty chilly. We waited until after lunch to get outside, and then we each picked a bucket full of weeds. It was a pretty good head start. The kitties helped, of course, but they were off busy with other things. There was no rain overnight, and we're not expecting rain before Sunday. Mike has identified some areas he ...

Itching to Stitch from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a day of relaxation here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch as we fortified ourselves for the next two long days of driving. Sometime Saturday afternoon, we'll be home. I know a certain cat who is so ready to be there. Yesterday he spent some time cleaning himself up so he'd look his best when he faced off with the mice and squirrels.

My slow-stitching took a backseat to sight-seeing this trip. It's generally only on days when we do nothing else that I have time for a good session of ...

Willis Creek Slot Canyon from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. With this post, we say good-bye to Utah. When we meet again, we'll be in Ely, Nevada.

We had a wonderful hike in the slot canyon yesterday. It's another big bucket list item. Most of the slot canyons we know about are either too difficult to reach or else too crowded for our taste. Many of them require permits or guides. This one was easy to reach. Willis Creek Slot Canyon is within the boundaries of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. There is a visitor center between the RV park and the trailhead. We ...

Kodachrome Basin State Park from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. When I left you yesterday, we weren't sure what the day would hold. The sky was threatening, and the forecast called for rain. We decided the state park made more sense since we could shelter in our truck if it started raining. So the hike is on this morning's agenda. It rained most of the night last night. I'm just hoping the trail and the road to the trailhead won't be impassable. We're expecting improved weather mid-day, and so we'll head out there and see what's what.

A Day of Rest from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Are you all rested up for another day of riding? We gave you the day off yesterday, and so we're hoping you used it wisely. Wanna know what we did at this end? Well, I hope so because I'm just about to tell you. Ready or not.

It might have been the first time this trip that we didn't leave the RV all day. Mike sat outside and read for most of the day. I sat inside making progress on the second "Kittens" block. There's a lot of stitching in these. It ...

A Zillion Picture Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! Well, what can I say? It was another day of jaw-dropping scenery and me not being able to stop my shutter finger from firing away picture after picture after picture. I've tried my best to whittle them down some, but it's hard to do. As I'm writing, I'm surrounded by kitties who are 'zhausted after spending so much time helping me with those pictures. Sadie is lounging on Mike's lap:

Smitty found our bed in disarray, and so he built a little nest for his sleeping pleasure.

LaGrande, Oregon from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, here we are! Let the fun begin!

We got off in good time yesterday morning. We loaded the kitties into the RV with no bloodshed, and then we hitched up and we were off. But before we get too far down the road, let's just catch up on a couple of things from before we left.

As you know, I was without anything new to stitch. It seemed like a good time to start on the "book spines." I finished two of them, and then in another session, three more were finished.

A Winner and an Update from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and a happy weekend to you! We're back from our little boating trip over to Starbuck, Washington. I've spent the past half hour (at least) sorting through pictures and trying to pick out the best ones for editing. My Photoshop Elements editor has been giving me grief during this process. It seems I can only load so many pictures for editing at a time. Three times, I've selected one picture over another and then deleted the first one from my editor. When I do that, it takes me back to a much, much ...
